Notes

The blog entries show PappKameraden (Paper Soldiers) in any form. It can be paper / cardboard sheets, which were printed with [soldier] figures in black and white or colored and were once distributed as advertising gifts or were available for purchase. Going beyond the purely military PappKameraden, cut-out sheets with civilian figures are also considered here, whereby I deliberately include cut-out cribs (CRECHE). Components of such paper cribs are always figures to be cut out, ergo PappKameraden in our sense. The contributions can also be entries to books about or with PappKameraden, which are briefly presented here and finally also print templates, which I have created on the basis of old templates. Only these cut-out sheets are presented here for download for non-commercial purposes. In addition - I thought about it for a long time - there is the area of Paper Dolls, where figures can be decorated with different cut-out costumes or even uniforms. Here, the appeal of the game lies in cutting out the costumes and dressing the existing torso of the figures in ever-changing ways. Not taken into account, on the other hand, are the numerous sheets from the field of cardboard model making, often consisting of many individual parts, which also recreate figures, but above all technical equipment or any kind of building. Beyond the nostalgic appeal, the old cut-out sheets with their typical illustrations of the time are to be understood and valued as cultural-historical sources. - Guest contributions are welcome!
